Rules of Participation

Classification Description

Each city delegation may consist of maximum 25 participants.

  1. Athletes / Participants (Delegates: up to 20) 

• All participants must be born in years 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997.
• Participation in allocated sport ONLY, supervised by the city coaches.

2. Sports Coaches (Delegates: up to 5)

•  Sports coaches will be the lead contact for their nominated sport at the event.

• They have responsibility for ensuring the welfare of the participants at the event.
• Each city must ensure that if there are athletes of both genders that its delegation of coaches and head of delegation also consist of both gender.

3. Head of Delegation: (Delegates: 1) 

• Head of Delegation is the main contact with the Organizers during the Games.
• They will be responsible for ensuring the cities' organization during the Games.

4. City Representative / VIP (Delegates: 1 Free of charge / others at visiting cities expense) 

• As City Representative / VIP, this individual will gain Access / tickets to the VIP events at the International Children's Games.
• They will be allocated accommodation at the VIP hotel, including Bed & Breakfast with Lunch and Evening Meal at the Games Centre or VIP Events.
• There is an opportunity for a visiting city to fund additional City Representative / VIP places. These will need to be registered and paid for before 27^th March 2009.

5. Other Delegation Members

• Other Delegation Members such as parents, chaperones, etc. are the participating cities' own expense.

 6. Guidelines

 The following are guidelines to participate in the 43^rd International Children's Games hosted in Athens, Greece, 2009. 

• At least 1 male coach / head of delegation if male participants.
• At least 1 female coach / head of delegation if female participants.
• There must be one coach responsible for each sport.
• One coach must be nominated Head Coach.
• Insurance is the responsibility of the Visiting City.
• Cities are kindly asked to seek balance between numbers of male / female participants in general.
